A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. In other words - if I'm going to keep a blog I'd better get started.

I thought I'd start off by showing you a mini album project I recently completed. I was inspired by a video made by Clare Charvill. Clare is on the design team for Graphic 45, my favorite paper company. I'm just going to show you a couple of pictures of what I did. If you want to see how to make it, Clare has a couple of wonderful videos -

I made the base of the mini using black cardstock from PapertreyInk. Their cardstock is a nice heavy weight and doesn't split when it's folded as long as you score it first. The patterned papers are all from the Graphic 45 "Bird Song" collection. Really, is it possible to make an ugly project when you're working with Graphic 45 papers?

The base card is cut in four pieces that are scored and taped together to make the zig zag pages. Once you have the four pieces together you cut it on the diagonal. While it looks complicated it only took me a few minutes to cut, score and attach the black card stock. The trickiest part of attaching the pattern papers was deciding which of the beautiful papers and tags to use. Don't you just love projects that look like you fussed over them for hours but are actually quite simple to make?

The first picture is of the back side of the album when it's open -

The second picture is of the flip side -

and this last photo is of the album when it's folded.

I used the kanji printed paper throughout to make the pockets that run along the bottom of each page. There aren't many embellishments because I wanted a fairly flat project. Over all I felt it came out nicely. Like I said above - it's hard to make a project using Graphic 45 papers and not get good results.

My thanks to Clare Charvill for her inspiration.
